Established in Mauritius in 2006, APPEL offers social rehabilitation and vocational training services, aiming to help individuals from vulnerable backgrounds achieve financial independence. The new training center offers curriculums approved by the Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA) (Note 3). Beneficiaries can receive training in baking, cooking, hairdressing, woodworking, metalworking, and more. The center also has a café that serves refreshments and provides employment opportunities for beneficiaries who have completed the training program.
APPEL also operates a social rehabilitation support facility nearby, providing shelter and psychological counseling to people from socially vulnerable backgrounds, so they can take the first step toward self-sufficiency. Residents of this facility are also eligible to enroll in the newly established vocational training facility, intending to empower the entire community through economic independence.
Through the Fund, MOL will continue to continue to provide support towards solving social issues in Mauritius.
