TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that on December 5, it signed a business alliance agreement with PT MCS Internasional (MCSI, Note 1), an Indonesian company engaged in management and training of seafarers, that will bring specified skilled workers to Japan. The alliance will focus on sending drivers from Indonesia, aiming to create employment opportunities for young Indonesians and help alleviate a severe shortage of drivers in Japan.
Leveraging the experience and knowledge MOL has cultivated over many years in the training of foreign seafarers, it is developing a foreign human resources (HR) consulting business that introduces foreign personnel to Japanese companies that are considering hiring foreign employees or expanding their hiring programs. (Note 2) The alliance between the two companies-MOL, which offers a wide range of HR consulting services based on its experience in recruiting and training foreign seafarers, and MCSI, which has assigned Indonesian seafarers and sent personnel to other countries, will leverage the strengths of both companies, while connecting workers and companies across borders and creating new employment opportunities for young Indonesians, addressing Japan's growing labor shortage, and the revitalizing local communities by bringing in foreign workers.
MCSI Director Johan Novitrian commented, "We are excited to announce a new chapter in our journey as we expand our collaboration and commitment with MOL to grow together. This agreement with our long-time partner marks a significant milestone, demonstrating our commitment to delivering exceptional talent solutions beyond the maritime industry. While our roots are in deploying crews for vessels, this new venture that expanding into the land-based sector reflects our adaptability and vision to broaden our impact. We look forward to bringing the same dedication and expertise to this new endeavor, creating opportunities and strengthening our partnerships worldwide."
MOL Wellbeing & Lifestyle Business Division General Manager Hiroyuki Kakehashi said, "We are pleased to begin a new partnership with our longtime partner MCSI. Indonesia is positioned as an important country for our foreign HR consulting business because of its large number of Japanese language learners and hospitality personnel, who are in high demand in our global HR business. We are very encouraged to be able to collaborate with MCSI, with whom we already have a strong, trusting relationship, in the HR business in Indonesia. We are confident that this collaboration will further expand our global HR business."
