Cooperation with local NGO in activities to support fishermen (2)

On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, a ceremony to mark the donation of aid supplies to those involved in the local fishing industry and their families was held at Trou d'Eau Douce, , with guests including Japanese Ambassador to Mauritius Shuichiro Kawaguchi, Secretary General of the international NGO Caritas Mauritius Patricia Adèle-Félicité, and MOL (Mauritius) Ltd. Representative Goro Yamashita.
In this project, MOL donates relief supplies for local fishermen and their families and implements programs to train people for jobs outside the fishing industry, support education for children in areas who are difficult to attend school, and provide financial support for school supplies. We provided fishing equipment (traps for fishes and lobsters, nets, fishing lines, and hooks) to over 90 local fishermen. Also, about 100 households received instruction on how to start raising vegetables and poultry, and over 100 students received support such as school fees, textbooks, and school uniforms.
In a moving speech at the donation ceremony, Caritas Mauritius Secretary General Adèle-Félicité expressed her heartfelt appreciation for our efforts to help the local community.
MOL will continue measures to closely support needs of local residents.
