MOL Mauritius International Fund for Natural Environment Recovery and Sustainability's Participates in Project Completion Ceremony by NGO

On Thursday, June 6 2024, a completion ceremony for the "GREENT PROJECT," organized by JA Mascareignes (Note 1), a subsidized by the MOL Mauritius International Fund for Natural Environment Recovery and Sustainability (hereinafter "the Fund") (Note 2), was held at the Manilal Doctor State Secondary School (MD SSS) (Note 3). Mr. Kazuhiko Sugano, Managing Director of MOL (Mauritius) Ltd. was on hand for the ceremony as a representative of the Fund.

"GREENT PROJECT" aims to develop a sustainable economy and foster environmentally conscious entrepreneurs. MD SSS is proactively engaged in environmental education, promoting in-school waste separation in secondary schools in Mauritius in cooperation with Precious Plastic (Note 4), a local NGO, and conducting environmental protection activities on Egret Island organized by the Mauritius Wildlife Foundation (Note 5). In light of these initiatives, the school introduced the project, developed by JA Mascareignes, as part of its educational program, and implemented it from the end of April to the end of May 2024.

Honorable Deepak Balgobin, Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, was the guest at the ceremony, where students who participated in the "GREENT PROJECT" received certificates to celebrate their achievements, and planted commemorative trees on the school grounds in hopes of fostering a greener future.

Through the Fund, MOL will continue to support initiatives for the next generation that contribute to sustainable development in Mauritius.

(Note 4) Precious Plastic Mauritius is an NGO established in 2019, and based in Pointe d'Esny, Mahebourg, that seeks to provide recycling solutions by collecting waste and at the same time cleaning beaches and mangrove sites. In addition, its volunteers walk around neighborhoods collecting waste plastic for recycling into colorful items such as coasters.
